I also carry little gifts to give out to someone I’ve had a conversation with. I carry Colorado state quarters just so they can have a sense of where I live.

Interesting results here (with the blogger hat on). Especially 98% focusing on both International & Domestic, though I guess it’s easier to choose both as an answer :p

Looking forward to how you guys adapt going forward. Always been impressed by the consistency here. Always something new, some which drags me over from Feedly 😀

Comment on How to Survive Jet Lag: Symptoms, Remedies & Prevention by Jeanette Kangas https://solotravelerworld.com/jet-lag/#comment-49710 Sun, 12 Nov 2017 23:48:00 +0000 https://solotravelerworld.com/?p=18328#comment-49710 In reply to Janice Waugh.

OMG, reading all of this has given me some clarity. I travelled from Canada to Sri Lanka a 20 hour flight barely slept on the flight. I do this journey every year as I live in Sri Lanka for 6 months. This time I am having the most difficult time ever I don’t know what to to. I can not sleep, i have sweats during the night, I have anxiety and panic attacks, starting to feel extremely depressed. I feel so trapped and I can’t pull out of this. I have been drinking lots of water, tried to nap but can’t because of the anxiety. I fall asleep for one hour and then I am up all night. It’s been 5 days and it feels like it’s only gotten worse.

This year I’ve travelled to Antarctica, trained from Venice to London and I’ve just completed a wonderful trip to Galápagos Islands and Easter Island. Quite arduous but so exciting. I’m 77 years old.

Comment on How to Survive Jet Lag: Symptoms, Remedies & Prevention by Dean Prager https://solotravelerworld.com/jet-lag/#comment-49707 Sat, 11 Nov 2017 06:06:00 +0000 https://solotravelerworld.com/?p=18328#comment-49707 So I’m wondering…does taking sleeping pills on your flight actually make your jet lag worse? I arrived in Sydney (from SFO) 36 hours ago. Had a great sleep on the plane and the first 24 hours in Sydney were amazing. The first night I slept fine from midnight to 8AM (which is normal for me) but on the 2nd day I am so out-of-it. Disoriented & surreal feeling. When I got down to the Lobby of the hotel I didn’t recognize it at all. Completely disoriented while doing some light shopping. Felt as if I was going to bump into everyone. ZOMBIE is the perfect word for it.

I just read that jet lag can get worse with age so maybe that is it, but also wondering if USA pill popping solution to everything is actually making things worse?

This sounds really bad. I would suggest that, after this much time, a trip to the doctor is a good idea to make sure there isn’t something else going on. But it does sound like your clock’s upside down. I’m sure you’ve tried it, but in case not, cut all caffeine from your diet. Not just for one day but for a couple of weeks. That includes coffee (even decaf), tea, soft drinks, protein bars, chocolate, ice cream, energy drinks… Don’t nap and exercise as much as possible so that your body is physically exhausted. Good luck. I really feel for you.
